Neurology

We currently have a vacancy for a full-time Neurologist, but are pleased that this position has been filled from September 2012. 
Our Medicine clinicans, Florence Juvet, Allison van Gelderen and Valerie Lamb, along woth our surgical team of Harry Scott, Mark Bush, Tony Ryan, Ian Nicholson and Phil Witte are able to help with a wide range of neurologically based problems, and will be happy to discuss individual cases.
 
They benefit from our state-of-the-art operating theatres, electrodiagnostic equipment, in-house CT scanner and weekly access to a 1.5 Tesla MRI to diagnose and treat neurological conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles of cats and dogs.

  • Encephalitis and/or meningitis (inflammation or infections of the brain and meninges)
  • Seizures
  • Brain tumours (cancer)
  • Brain infarcts (stroke)
  • Brain malformations (hydrocephalus, caudal occipital malformation syndrome with associated syringohydromyelia)
  • Vestibular disease (balance problems)
  • Intervertebral disc disease (slipped disc)
  • Vertebral fractures and luxations (spinal fractures)
  • Spinal cord tumours (cancer)
  • Fibrocartilaginous embolism (spinal cord stroke)
  • Myelitis (inflammation or infections of the spinal cord)
  • Wobbler syndrome
  • Diagnosis of Deafness (BAER hearing tests)
  • Diseases of muscles or peripheral nerves (myopathies or neuropathies)
  • Myasthenia gravis

Our neurologists are supported by a team of highly motivated and skilled interns and nurses providing 24-hour care for the patients.
