Imaging

We have one full-time Diagnostic Imager, Manuel Pinilla, who has been with us since January 2011. Travis Saveraid continues to provide additional advice and cover on a consultancy basis.

Manuel is involved in all imaging in the Practice - radiography, ultrasound, CT and MRI, and is more than happy to give advice over the phone. We can offer :

Radiography reporting - a verbal report is free of charge; a written report is £46.67 plus VAT. Both hard copies and digital images welcome. The diagnostic imagers are able to liase with other specialist departments within SCVS to give you the best possible advice.

Abdominal ultrasound & ultrasound-guided biopsies - we are happy to see these cases solely for these procedures (you will receive a written report of the scan) or as part of a full referral. Please note that it can be difficult to give useful advice on ongoing case management if we have not had a full consultation with the pet's owner - although we will always be as helpful as we can.

CT scanning - our in-house 4 slice helical CT scanner allows us to scan cases 24/7. You can request a written report as part of the service. For more complex cases we recommend a full referral consultation with one of our specialists to allow us to give you the best advice for future case management. Please note that patients referred solely for external imaging must have had a recent blood profile and must be clinically stable.

MRI - we perform MRI at least one day per week using a vising high field 1.5 Tesla scanner to produce the best possible image quality.  As for CT scanning, you can request a written report as part of the service. For more complex cases we recommend a full consultation with one of our specialists before scanning. Please note that patients referred solely for external imaging must have had a recent blood profile and must be clinically stable.
