Our Neurology team deals with the diagnosis and treatment of all neurological disorders, and are experienced surgeons. They are experts in medical neurology e.g. neuromuscular disorders, seizure management and vestibular disorders, and brain or spinal surgery.
European and American specialist in veterinary neurology
Katia received her degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Parma in 1995. She subsequently completed a PhD in neurology and electrophysiology in Turin followed by a residency in neurology at the University of Pennsylvania.
Katia is an American and European boarded diplomate in neurology and has held several academic posts in the USA including clinical instructor at the University of Missouri and Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee. Katia has authored numerous papers on clinical neurology and is a nationally and internationally recognised specialist in her field.
She is actively involved in continuing professional development, having taught at all levels during her time in the USA. She is a neurology consultant for VIN (Veterinary Information Network), an American-based electronic resource for veterinarians, and was also involved in the production of the DVD “Neurological Examination of the Dog” marketed by Improve International Ltd.

Sergio qualified from the University of Extremadura in Spain in 1996, and completed an internship in medicine and surgery the following year. After working for two years in small animal practice in Spain, he moved to France on a post-doctoral Erasmus scholarship. Over the following years, he worked in several private practices there and undertook further studies in the USA & Canada. In 2005, Sergio took up a three-year ECVN residency in neurology & neurosurgery at Barcelona University. He became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Neurology in 2009 and joined SCVS soon afterwards.
