RCVS Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics)
Harry graduated from the University of Liverpool. Whilst working in small animal general practice and for animal charities (PDSA and RSPCA) he developed interests in both orthopaedics and dermatology culminating in RCVS Certificates in both disciplines. He was a founding partner of the Godiva Veterinary Referral Centre in Coventry and has also worked as an orthopaedic surgeon at Cambridge university and at a specialist referral centre in Australia. Harry became a Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons by examination in Canine Spinal Surgery in 1992, and in 1999 he obtained the RCVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics).
He has authored a number of scientific papers and co-authored the first ever orthopaedic textbook about cats entitled Feline Orthopedics.
He recently became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP), awarded by the University of Tennessee and is the only orthopaedic specialist in the UK to hold this qualification.
Mark qualified from Cambridge in 1999. He spent four years in a busy small animal practice in Swindon where he developed a keen interest in surgery and passed his RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2003. After travelling in India and South East Asia, Mark worked for four years in a small animal referral practice in Bristol, focusing on orthopaedic and spinal surgery. During this time he was a part-time Resident in Orthopaedics at the University of Bristol and enrolled in the RCVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics). Mark’s main professional interests include orthopaedic trauma and the burgeoning field of joint replacement.
Phil qualified from Bristol University Veterinary School in 2005, and worked in mixed practice in Herefordshire for two years, followed by a year in South Africa working with buffalo. On his return to the UK, he took a position as Orthopaedic Intern at SCVS, and afterwards began his residency in orthopaedic surgery.
David graduated from Cornell University in New York State with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 2003 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2008. He spent the last year living and working in Zurich, where he participated in research projects in orthopaedic surgery and nutrition.
Karen graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2007. After working for a charity clinic on Rarotonga in the south Pacific she returned to the UK and joined a busy small animal and equine first opinion practice in Christchurch. Karen joined SCVS in February to pursue her interests in surgery and neurology.
