We will normally give you some instructions on whether we would like your pet to have been starved overnight. Please follow these instructions. Also, please remember to bring with you any paperwork/ laboratory results/ x-rays your vet may have given you to deliver to us, as well as any insurance documents/ claim forms.
Once you reach us at Hangersley (See the "How to Find Us" section) you should find ample parking at the surgery as well as a pebbled area for the purposes of pet toileting after what may have been a long journey.
On arrival you will be greeted by our reception team at the front desk. They will make sure all contact and pet details are correct. Complimentary tea and coffee are available so allow yourself plenty of time to register and have a quick refreshment!
Consultations will typically begin with a thorough discussion of your pet’s background history leading on to questioning regarding your pet’s current problem. The vet will then examine your animal before discussing options for further investigation and treatment possibilities as appropriate. Between the vet and the client a decision will be made on the next step. Often this will mean further diagnostic testing which we will try to perform on the same day. The pet will be left with us and collected later the same day. At this stage the vet or discharge nurse will discuss the findings from that day and decisions regarding further testing or treatment will be made.
Pets which have already been presented to the vet and are being dropped off for procedures will be admitted by a registered veterinary nurse or one of our veterinary interns. They will ask a few questions regarding the time since the previous visit and answer any questions that may have arisen. Your pet may remain hospitalised with us for varying periods of time depending on the condition.
Pets are usually discharged by registered veterinary nurses or veterinary interns. A comprehensive written set of instructions on after-care including any physiotherapy recommended by our physiotherapist will be provided and we go through these with you so that you have no concerns when you leave. Should there be any further questions we are always available to address issues via the telephone.
We fax, post and email reports of our diagnostics and treatments to the referring vet so that they are kept up to date with the condition and are able to continue to provide the primary care for your pet.
