After graduating from the University of Liverpool in 2010 with an intercalated Master's degree in Epidemiology and Microbiology, Amna began her veterinary career in small animal practice in Devon. She later moved to Hampshire, where she combined first-opinion small animal practice with studying for the BSAVA Postgraduate Certificate in Ophthalmology.
Having developed a strong interest in ophthalmology during her time at university, Amna went on to complete both an internship and residency in veterinary ophthalmology at Optivet Referrals. Her passion for the specialty has continued to grow throughout her career, driven by the challenge of managing complex cases and the opportunity to improve patients' comfort, quality of life, and vision.
Amna particularly enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues from other specialties to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients and their owners. While she enjoys all aspects of ophthalmic surgery, she has a special interest in intraocular procedures, where advanced surgical techniques can not only relieve discomfort but, in many cases, restore sight.
