Tech advancements in our ICU

Advancements in technology for critical care patients

It’s imperative that all pets get the care they need, but some are in a very critical condition requiring the most intensive care available. These very poorly pets getting the right level of care is exactly why Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists (SCVS) have invested into a brand new oxygen intensive care unit (ICU) for their kennels. The unit ensures a fast oxygen supply is available to their patients through a computer-controlled system in combination with high quality sealed cages. The air temperature is automatically cooled with humidity control, CO2-extraction, floor heating as well as integrated sensors.

The new ICU features include:

  • Automated CO2-absoroption
  • Opening for infusions and cables
  • Sealed doors
  • 2 separate heated floors with overheat protection
  • Touch control options for oxygen, lighting and floor temperature
  • Smooth edges and surfaces
  • Dimmable LED light with day and night mode
  • Climate control including cooling and dehumidification

The ICU is provided by German company IntensoVet with one of their employees flying in especially from Germany to make sure it was installed correctly in SCVS’ wards. Everything was measured beforehand so it could be specifically designed for SCVS as the company provide a variety of widths, heights and options with the units. It was important to choose a company who is committed to ensuring pets get the best care, therefore SCVS are very confident with their choice in IntensoVet.

This is another wonderful reason why clients can feel completely safe leaving pets in the care of SCVS, with advancements in technology and compassionate staff they can feel assured knowing their pets are in the right place during their recovery.
