We invite applications for an ECVS approved, Surgical Residency Programme, to commence in June 2025.

Surgery Job Type: Fixed term Contract (3-years) – 2 positions are available

Hours: 5 days per week, Monday – Friday with participation in the OOH/on-call rota, as required.


Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists is a specialist led, referral only hospital in the New Forest. We have specialist services in Anaesthesia, Cardiology, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Soft tissue and Orthopaedic Surgery, Ophthalmology and Diagnostic Imaging. We also have extensive patient rehabilitation services, including physiotherapy and an underwater treadmill.

We invite applications for an ECVS approved, Surgical Residency Programme, to commence in June 2025. Successful applicants will work alongside our team of ECVS Surgery Specialists, Residents, and a dedicated nursing team, within a large multidisciplinary practice, renowned for surgical excellence. You will participate in the small animal surgery referral service including contributing to the out of hours emergency service.

You must be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS), be eligible to work in the UK, and have a minimum of two years clinical experience since graduation. Candidates should have completed a rotating or surgical internship in a multidisciplinary referral centre, in addition to experience of first-opinion, small animal practice in the UK. Proficiency in both spoken and written English is required, with exemplary communication skills being essential.
