Veterinary Surgical Intern

We are delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a 1-year fixed term contract as a Veterinary Surgical Intern.

We have two positions available, one starting at the end of April and one starting at the beginning of June 2024. You will work alongside our team of boarded Surgery Specialists, Residents, and a dedicated nursing team within a large multidisciplinary practice renowned for surgical excellence.

Our surgical internship program is aimed at motivated veterinary surgeons, who will play a key role in the management, monitoring, and treatment of our patients. We currently have two surgical interns who rotate between Soft Tissue, Orthopaedic Surgery and the out of hours service, over a twelve-month period. 

A surgical internship is the first step towards specialist training. For others, the skills and knowledge they have acquired during the internship can be brought to a general practice setting. During the internship, a structured program of teaching, including induction, seminars, journal clubs and presentations is provided. Surgical interns are also encouraged to prepare and publish scientific research and/or surgical related audit. 

• Applicants should be members of the RCVS and have excellent communication skills.
• Previous experience in small animal practice or a rotating internship is required.
• 5 days CPD and a £1,500 per annum allowance is provided, in addition to 5 weeks holiday plus 8 bank holidays.
